The Gospel of Tug Benson

Tuesday, November 11th, 2008

Much of our lives are caught in the crossfire between reality and expectation. The story of our nation, the United States, is of powerful men promising endless happiness while making sure we never get them. We are the hamster in a painfully ironic wheel, caught in an endless unchangeable dynamic. The Gospel of Tug Benson is about a man caught in a widening gyre that is America in the 1930’s. All fatalistic utterances aside, I’m sure that if you can get past my grotesque soap boxing, you’ll enjoy my little beat character’s and their crummy mill town. For more of my dismal bullshit check out Thanks for reading, and as all ways keep the dream alive!

What dreams may come for the angry pilgrim?

It is my last day of my undergraduate career, the majority of which spent in front of a computer coloring next week’s page. Thrilling tails of adventure await us all I assure you! I’ll be in Brooklyn for three months, let’s see if I’ve got the constitution for the big city.

Trouble in the hen house

Sorry folks, the latest page is not working for some unknown reason. As soon as I get the problem shored up we’ll be back on with the story in force.

Monday’s comic

Monday, November 24th, 2008

Sorry folks, the comic for monday is to be posted on Tuesday and Thursdays will be up on time.

Holiday blues

Monday, January 5th, 2009

Hey folks

The holidays found me all over the map from Savannah to New York City, then to Canada. I certainly had a lot of fun, but the comic took a hit.  So, sorry folks for the week long comic black out. There’s plenty of Tug to look forward to as the 3am to Dewberry gains tension. I’ve got plenty more cooked up for Corapeake as well, what with new characters and stories about this sorted mill town. So stay tuned and enjoy your break from the unholy days.

Losing color

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

hey folks,

As always I’d like to thank all you who’ve been reading, means a lot to me.

I’m sorry to announce two things; the first being that a good professor and big fan of Tug has died recently. Certainly he will be sorely missed as he was essential in the development of the story.

The second thing, which is not necessarily bad, is that I won’t be posting anymore colored pages. This is for two reasons (there’s that two again.): Since I’ll be on the road in Canada working as one must to get on, I won’t be able to devote the time to color every page. The other is that I want you guys to have a reason to buy the book is it ever comes out. Not to seem stingy or something terse; It’s really because of the former rather than the latter.

Anyhow, the good news is that you won’t have to wait month’s on end for the story to get on with itself. Posts’ll shoot up to six pages a month rather than just two to three. I’ll also try to post at least one colored page the last thursday of each month, no promises, but I’ll try.

Okay okay, enough dark clouds and pandering. How are you doing? The kids? The Job? Yeah yeah, that’s how the oar grinds the palm old boy. Anyway I’m off to swat flies and scowl at my russian cat. She only eats Lenin red food and I’m all out of food coloring.

The West: Where a man can get some elbow room!

Sunday, September 27th, 2009

Been a while since I put up a new page and I’m truly sorry for that folks. I’ve been traveling by cycle from Vancouver to Mexico for the last month, taking time from the book and basking in the Wob strong hold of Washington state. It’s gorgeous out here with it’s mighty red woods and jagged beaches. I’ve made it to San Francisco so far, but my buddy hurt his leg on our way there on a 2000 foot mountain top. I may go on as I’ve got a yearning to see Southern California and maybe some of the Baha peninsula. Kate doesn’t want my hide one inch in old Mexico though…

Anyway, this is all to get around to tell you that it’ll be a little while longer till we see more Tug. I’ve got more of em though, believe you me. I’ll keep you posted faithful readers and maybe I’ll send you some cold chile relleno if you ask me nice.

Don’t normally write blog posts here. For work independent of the book you can click on the dumpy lil rev on the bottom right of the page.

Anyhow, I wanted to let ya’ll know about what’s been going down with the book. I know I’m notorious for spotty posting on the site, a fact that makes Prof. Jeremy throw bricks from heaven at me, but I promise that Chpt four will be posted on time this month.

As for future publishing of the book I’m pretty much were I started, so we won’t see Tug in 3d for a while yet. Which is good for ya’ll since it’s free to read now, which i prefer really, being the nice open source guy that I am!

So keep your chin up until next time.

OH! And I love comments and email ( so don’t be shy with them. I’d like to get an idea of who’s been reading.

New Pages

Thursday, April 1st, 2010

Hey folks

Sorry for the post gap again. I was searching around for an agent. I’ve found one so now we’ll be back on track with posts. I’m editing and revising the content I have. So not to confuse, but I’m going to be putting new pages in the beginning, which is good because ya’ll will get a better idea of who Tug is and how it is he started hoboing. So to see the new pages (which will be colored!) go to Archives and scroll down to the “In The Beginning” series. You won’t be sorry.
